Cape Fear Highland Games

Cape Fear Highland Games holds its 2nd annual Highland Games Exhibition behind the IRS Building on Randall Drive in Wilmington, NC. The games feature traditional Scottish events such as Caber Toss, Scottish Hammer Throw, Sheaf Toss, Stone Put and more. The event also includes food vendors, a beer tent, and Scottish and traditional vendors.

With Quilters By The Sea Guild, Wilmington’s superb quilting guild, we are creating and presenting what we fully intend to be the coolest quilting and fiber arts show in the Southeast. Coastal Living Show

The Wilmington Woman’s Club presents the annual Coastal Living Show at the Schwartz Center on the campus of Cape Fear Community College. The event features more than 70 vendors ranging from home improvement companies and landscapers to real estate agents and interior designers. Proceeds go towards various organizations in the Port City area, especially  non-profits that benefit women and children.

Flytrap Family Fun Day

Flytrap Family Fun Day at Carolina Beach State Park features a celebration of what Royal Governor Arthur Dobbs in 1759 described as a “catch fly sensitive found at Latitude 34” — the famous Venus Flytrap. The event includes crafts, carnivorous plant hikes, an interpreter in period costume, and a trail run. Meet at the Nature Trail Lane parking area.

Spring Book Sale

It’s time for the Friends of the Library Book Sale, when used books, CDs, and DVDs for adults and children will flood the auditorium and lobby of the Northeast Regional Library. Most of these items have been donated by the community, and all NHC libraries accept donations of used books and audiovisual items throughout the year. The sale is a biannual fundraiser for NHC Library that is staffed by the Friends of the Library.

Canines for Service Walk & Dog Dash

Canines for Service 10th Annual Walk & Dog Dash at Hugh MacRae Park (Shelter #5) in Wilmington, NC, is a chance to form a team with friends, family, neighbors or co-workers, lace up the sneakers, and leash up your dog.  The event also includes raffles, a photo booth, activities, vendors and lunch from Mission BBQ. Canines for Service is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to achieve greater independence and enhanced quality of life and to improving people’s lives through the services of specially trained assistance dogs.

Clicks4Paws offers a chance to have your four-legged, furry family member pose for professional portraits (just your pet, or include the family). Sessions are donation based and approximately 15 minutes, and you will receive up to five digital files.  Make an appointment by email, or just show up sometime during either the morning (9-11am) or afternoon (3-6pm) sessions. Funds go to paws4people, a public charity that places trained Assistance Dogs (ADs) with individuals with physical, neurological, psychological and/or emotional disabilities, including civilians and veterans.
