The Fantasticks

The Fantasticks, the classic musical that ran for more than 50 years in New York City, comes to the Ruth and Bucky Stein Theatre at Thalian Hall. The show, which features popular local actors, follows a boy, a girl, two fathers, and a wall. The narrator, El Gallo, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow apart, and finally find their way back to each other.

Runs through May 29th.

The Real Inspector Hound

Big Dawg Productions in Wilmington, NC, present The Real Inspector Hound  at Cape Fear Playhouse. The play follows two theater critics watching a ridiculous country house murder mystery. As it happens, they become involved in the drama, a series of events that parallels the play they are viewing.

24th Annual Greek Festival

The Annual Greek Festival at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is an event that attracts thousands from around the region and features food, music, dancing, a marketplace, cooking demonstrations, and church tours. Proceeds benefit the church and Good Shepherd Center.

Feast Down East hosts Raise the Barn Farm Dinner and Benefit at the New Hanover County Arboretum. This farm-to-fork event features food prepared by locally renowned chefs including those from 22 North, Catch, Ceviche’s, Chef and the Farmer, Hops Supply Co., PinPoint Restaurant, Plantation Village, Rx Restaurant and Bar, Surf House, and UNCW Campus Dining. Carolina Strawberry Festival

In 2011, the Town of Wallace, lead by a core group of leaders, brought the “Strawberry Festival” back to Wallace after 50 years.  Each year, the Carolina Strawberry Festival has grown bigger and better.  Guests to this year’s festival can enjoy live music, vendors, games, rides, live karaoke, a daredevil dog show, and a Touch Tank from NC Aquarium.
