4th Friday Gallery Night, a free monthly self-guided tour of galleries, studios and art spaces featuring exhibitions of various artistic genres including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, photography, glass, metals, wood, ceramics, mixed media and more.

Downtown Sundown Concert

The 11th annual Downtown Sundown Concert Series sets up across from the Riverwalk and this Friday’s concert features 42, a Coldplay tribute band. Beer, wine and food available (must buy a $1 wristband to buy alcohol). Opening act is Striking Copper. Rain or shine.

Monkey Junction Summer Concert Series

The Monkey Junction Summer Concert Series at the Home Depot parking lot features a performance by country band Chillin Dixie. Kids Zone includes bounce houses and putt-putt. Beer, wine, soda, and water will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit Step Up For Soldiers.

Carolina Pine Music Festival

The Carolina Pine Music Festival takes place  at the Brooklyn Arts Center (516 North 4th Street), Satellite Bar & Lounge (120 Greenfield Street), and The Art Factory (721 Surry Street).

THE LINEUP: Friday at the Brooklyn Arts Center:

21st Annual Orange Street ArtsFest

The 21st Annual Orange Street ArtsFest convenes adjacent to the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center in historic downtown Wilmington, NC. The event is the largest arts festival in the Port City featuring more than 80 artists and $550 in prize money and includes live entertainment and food from Catch, Poor Piggy’s BBQ, North Carolina Sweet Tea, and Snowy of the Carolinas. Hourly music and dance performances feature artists who perform or teach in the Community Arts Center including Anevay Dance Company, El Jaye Johnson, Flor-Y-Canto, Revolver Music and Rhythm & Grits. Thalian Association Community Theatre presents selections from its upcoming season of Main Stage Thalian Hall and Youth Theatre productions.

The 51st Annual Memorial Day Observance at the Battleship North Carolina  in Wilmington is a chance to remember those who gave their lives in service to the USA. The event features patriotic music by the Duke Ladd Band; guest speaker Christina Alvarado, Deputy Commande, Navy Medicine East; a 21-gun salute, taps, and more.

The Shakespeare Youth Company presents The Two Gentlemen of Verona  at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington. Directed by Cherri McKay,Shakespeare’s prankishly sophomoric romantic comedy features privileged children mostly unsupervised by adults in a story about the conflict between friendship and love, and the foolish behaviour of people in love. The Movie at the Lake at Carolina Beach Lake Park features Minions  featuring the voices ofSandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, and Michael Keaton. The comedy adventure animated film tells the story of a super villain who recruits three men to help her take over the world. Running time: 1 hour, 31 minutes. Rated PG. Film begins at dusk, and is subject to change.
