The Airlie Gardens Summer Concert Series kicks off with Signal Fire. Concerts are performed in front of the famous Airlie Oak the first and third Friday of every month, May through September.

Ladies of Laughter

Each year the Ladies of Laughter hold a comic competition for the best emerging female comedians in the country, and the finalists hit the Mainstage at Thalian Hall. This evening features performances by Alycia Cooper, Robyn Fox, and Chris Rich.

NCHS Teacher Trot 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

The New Hanover County Schools Teacher Trot 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run at Ashley High School in Wilmington, NC, encourages wellness for students, staff, and the community. The 5K begins and ends at the track and loops around the Halyburton Parkway area around Anderson Elementary and Ashley High School.

River-to-Sea Bike Ride

The River-to-Sea Bike Ride is a 20-mile (round-trip) casually paced bicycle ride from downtown Wilmington to Wrightsville Beach on the Port City’s River-to-Sea Bicycle Route (Bike Route #1). All ages are welcome and registration is from 8-8:30am (for safety reasons, late arrivals will not be able to join the ride). Helmets required. Departure is at 8:30am from Bailey Park.

paws4people’s 3rd Annual Derby 4 Dogs at Porters Neck Country Club is presented by Patricia Collie, First Vice President/Financial Advisor of Morgan Stanley, and features a Garden Party with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a live viewing of The Kentucky Derby. Kentucky Derby Party at Coastline Convention Center

The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra hosts a Kentucky Derby Party at Coastline Convention Center featuring a chance to wear big hats and seersucker suits and view “the most exciting two minutes in sports.” The other 178 minutes include hors d’oeuvres by Bon Appetit, bluegrass music by Massive Grass, a drawing for a 2016 Audi raffle, and the announcement of its 2016-17 concert season. Proceeds benefit the Wilmington Symphony and its youth education programs.

The Kentucky Derby Party at Poplar Grove in Wilmington, NC, helps support its Animal Sanctuary and raise awareness for the efforts of the Cape Fear Equine League.
